We need your help!

Your support — in any amount — for our Landmark & Legacy campaign is essential as we work to restore the Douglas Mansion, preserve Linn County history, and define The History Center for the future.

The Douglas Mansion is the perfect location for The History Center. Ideally located near many iconic Linn County structures and institutions, the mansion provides excellent space for both exhibits and programming in addition to being a historically significant treasure in and of itself.

A challenge to be met

There is a very good chance for significant support from the State of Iowa’s Enhance Iowa program via the Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) fund. To unlock the funding, however, we’ve been asked to demonstrate robust support from our community.

That’s where you — and your friends and neighbors — come in.

From now until November 15, each gift to The History Center’s Landmark & Legacy campaign helps us show this essential support from the community we serve. The total number of gifts — not the size of any individual gift — is what matters. We’re nearing our goal, and your help is critical.

Can you give $1? $5? $25? $50? More? Your gift in any amount simply could not be more important than it is right now!

The moment is now

The History Center preserves and illuminates the stories that are the foundation on which this community is built. The Douglas Mansion — itself a priceless artifact — will be the perfect facility in the perfect location for this work. And you are the perfect partner to help us bring this to fruition with a gift to the campaign — a gift that will be multiplied significantly by the CAT grant we are seeking.

With a solid business plan, an achievable campaign goal, and an unwavering devotion to sharing the history of Linn County, The History Center is ready to begin the next chapter in its own story.

We hope you’ll help us write it.

Your one-time gift to this essential capital campaign will ensure the Douglas Mansion is beautifully restored to serve as the home of The History Center. Gifts of $1000 or greater will be acknowledged in perpetuity in the building and can be paid over a three-year period.
